Maybe this is a strange quesiton but maybe someone can advise.
I have created a database and it is getting larger and larger, I wonder if
there any tools when you can actually document the database i.e. create
database maps and see all the joins and what field has what type, and what
comments assigned.
Basically so later if I decide to go to it, I can check a kind of database
documentation and know exactly what refers to what.
Does anything exist like this? If so what applicaiton can I use to produce
such a thing and read it too

Search for "ER diagram" tools. "ER" in this context means "entity
relationship." These are software applications with which you can
design a graphical diagram for a database schema. Some of these even do
"reverse engineering" and produce a diagram from an existing database.
There are quite a few such products on the market. For example, here's
a query that shows a few in MySQL AB's catalog of 3rd party products for
MySQL: http://solutions.mysql.com/search.ph...t=92&q=diagram
In a pinch I have also used Microsoft Office to design diagrams by hand.
In PowerPoint, you can place boxes and connect them with "rubber band"
lines that stretch as you move the boxes around. But this is laborious
to maintain, and has no integration with your database.

phpmyadmin can do that, and produce the output as pdf.

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
