I was wondering if anyone could help me with a problem I'm having.
I've been using Dreamweaver to create a hotel booking system for a
friend of mine, using MySQL (version 4.0.21) and PHP 5. The bit I'm
struggling with is checking the Room Availability based on dates that
are typed into a textfield and then returning a list of the available
rooms on the next page.
The three tables involved in this function are:

We have a performance problem to replicate our environnement.
Our java code is able to insert 100 000 rows in a table within 3
seconds using Batch Statement. For two oracle sites it takes 6 seconds
the inserts. When we enable oracle's advanced replication the time
falls to 44 seconds for the two replicated sites. So the transactions
took 7 times more time. It is normal Oracle states that Adv
replication takes around 6 times more resource...

Occasionally in checking one of the servers, I noticed that mysql shows 85% + of
cpu usage essentially leaving the server at 0% idle. After monitoring it for a
few hours, the status did not change. After a stop and start of mysql, things
progessed normally. Checking back a few days later I noticed it was once again
sitting up there at 95% (or thereabouts) and doing nothing of value from what i
could tell.
