High Availability in Mysql

Hello all,

Does anyone know what sort of HA features will be implemented in MySql ?
What I exactly want to know is whether MySql will provide a HA solution
similar to Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC).

RAC allows multiple instances to manipulate a single database on shared
disks. If one instance fails, the others still can continue to provide the
same service. (This is quite different from MySql Replication which maintains
multiple copies of a single database.)

It may be too much to ask for free software, but I really wish that this kind
of features will be implemented in MySql.

regards,
Teppei

I was wondering if anyone could help me with a problem I'm having. I've been using Dreamweaver to create a hotel booking system for a friend of mine, using MySQL (version 4.0.21) and PHP 5. The bit I'm struggling with is checking the Room Availability based on dates that are typed into a textfield and then returning a list of the available rooms on the next page. The three tables involved in this function are: CREATE TABLE `room` (

Anyone know where I could get a PHP based availability calendar for a holiday apartment website? I currently have the calendar as a html tables based affair that is updated via DW, but I am trying to migrate the site to PHP and wish to introduce a web based calendar that can be updated online. Occasionally in checking one of the servers, I noticed that mysql shows 85% + of cpu usage essentially leaving the server at 0% idle. After monitoring it for a few hours, the status did not change. After a stop and start of mysql, things progessed normally. Checking back a few days later I noticed it was once again sitting up there at 95% (or thereabouts) and doing nothing of value from what i could tell. Have restarted MySQL during...

Hi, R language has very high-level IO functions, its read.table can read a total .csv file and recogonize the types of each column. write.table can do the reverse. R's MySQL interface has high-level functions, too, e.g. dbWriteTable can automatically build a MySQL table and write a table of R data into it.

How can I prove uptime (or quantify downtime) on an ASP.NET 1.1 Web application (running on an IIS6 Windows Server Standard server)? What's going on here is that I'm considering the feasability of claiming or at least establishing some percentage of availability for our production Web site (99.9%, or 99.99%, or 99.999% "five nines). Of course I'll only advertise the fact if I can establish it objectively (and it's at least 3 nines :) For...

IMPACT OF NOLOGGING OPERATIONS IN HIGH AVAILABILITY ENVIRONMENTS Logged operation has to generate redo for every change data or undo block, nologging operations indicate that the database operation is not logged in the online redo log file. Even though a small invalidation redo record is still written to the online redo log file, nologging operations skip the redo generation of the corresponding inserted data. nologging can...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
