not seeing MySQL prompt in emacs sql-mode on Windows...

I've asked this question on the emacs newsgroup and didn;t get an answer, so
I thought I might post the question here.

I've been using emacs sql-mode for some time now (with MySQL) and love it.
I've used it on both Windows and FreeBSD (sadly I do most of my work on
Windows though) and have noticed that the output the prompt and output on
the Windows machine isn't displayed, but is displayed on the FreeBSD
machine.

Someone one the emacs newsgroup replied with this...

Perhaps MySQL is writing its prompt and output directly to the terminal,
instead
of to standard output (and/or standard error). You could ask the MySQL
mailing
lists or newsgroup (comp.database. mysql?).

Why would there be different behaviours in the two different environments?

Thanks,
Jeff.

I'm an Access user, and I'm trying to learn MySQL and then PHP so I can make some web databases. But it just isn't clicking. I've followed some tutorials, and picked up a book, but just getting to square one has been a pain. I can follow the tutorials and get to the point where I can make tables and stuff, but I don't know how I got there, or what to do if something changes that makes it different than the tutorial. MySQL doesn't seem...

I have installed MySQL under Linux and it's now running... I have created a DB and a few tables and populated them... How do I query the tables now ? I have enter SQL statements at the command prompt however some are quite complex and surely don't have to be reentered every time ? I found a package called "query browser" but to date have been unable to get it to work... is this the correct package for executing queries on the db ?

Hi all, While working on an Access UI to a MySQL database (which should be a reasonable, low-cost, flexible interface to the DB, better than web-based, much less costly than a full-fledged .NET app or so.... is it?), I tried measuring the bandwith consumed by the Access/MyODBC/MySQL link, which came out to be, er, quite high. I fancied it would be interesting to look at the queries Access throws at MySQL through the ODBC link, so I...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
