Ok, I'm new to PHP and MySQL. I've been going through tutorials, reading the documentation, and looking through web sites. PHP to me seems great! With MySQL it seems even better. However, I'm an experienced C++ programmer. This has allowed me to see many potential areas where the security of a server can be compromised through loopholes in PHP. Granted, with the right knowledge these potential threats can be avoided. But I've just...

Hi, I hope this question isn't too far off topic....I'm almost at my wits end trying to figure this out. I have a Mysql database and I wish to automate the backup of the database because I don't wish to rely on the web host doing so. I am using the "dbsender.php" script, which is written for this exact purpose (available at hotscripts.com). If I execute the script via my browser, the database is emailed to me in a 'gzip' format, which...

Hello, I have a client (customer) who asked the question : "Why would I buy and use UDB, when MySql is free?" I had to say I was stunned. I have no experience with MySql, so I was left sort of stammering and sputtering, and managed to pull out something I heard a couple of years back - that there was no real transaction safety in MySql. In flight transactions could be lost.

Hello everyone, This is my first attempt at getting help in this manner. Please forgive me if this is an inappropriate request. I suddenly find myself in urgent need of instruction on how to communicate with a MySQL database table on a web server, from inside of my company's Access-VBA application. I know VBA pretty well but have never before needed to do this HTTP/XML/MySQL type functions.

Hi, We're using a mySQL database as a replica of another (Sybase) DB for reporting purposes. The Sybase is part of a real-time mission critical system - hence the separate database where people can run their queries on. Currently a separate application is copying the information we're interested in from Sybase to mySQL in an overnight batch-process. We want to extend this to loading every 15 minutes and are now investigating the...

Folks: We have a web-based app that's _really_ slowing down because multiple clients are writing their own private data into a single, central database. I guess the previous programmer did things this way because it made things easy. Well, I'm the person that has to put up with the long-term headache. Anywho, someone at work wants things sped up, so what I'm looking at doing is this for each client:

Since i cannot show the differences in a two-column like table. I am first putting MS SQL Server 2005 and then MySQL 5.x. MS SQL Server 2005 Brief Overview - SQL Server is a full-fledged database system developed specifically for large enterprise databases. All advanced features of a relational database are fully implemented. - Once you purchase the product, you are only limited to the Sybase-derived engine.

You may be wondering why you would want to put your files “into” the database, rather than just onto the file-system. Well, most of the time, you wouldn’t. In situations where your PHP application needs to store entire files, the preferred method is to save the file onto the server’s file-system, and store the physical location of the file in your database. This is generally considered to be the easiest and fastest way to store files. ...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
