Right now I am backing up mysql 4.0.14 on Windows2000 with
a scheduled batch file that shuts down the mysql service - copies
the entire data directory to a \backup directory, and restarts the
mysql service. this \backup directory then goes onto tape a couple
of hours later via veritas remote backup agent. I have tested a
restore of this backup method and it works fine. Now I would like

I'm moving out from MySQL to PostgreSQL and there are some function
which are not supported in PG so I'm trying to write my own functions.
Currently I have big problem with function IF(), below the description
of this function from MySQL manual.
Anybody can help me with this ?? I think that PLPGSQL language can be
used or maybe other (plPerl) etc.

Currently I must manually complete the following commands to set a new value
for the "open objects" and "open indexes". I need a way script this process
in a batch file.
COMMANDS RAN: This is nothing to script, these commands obtain the current
values for open objects and open indexes.

I'm trying to automate an auto-export of a table on a daily basis,
using BCP. I'm using native format for the BCP because the text in
one of the fields can encompass pretty much any ASCII characters, and
using the other options (including the null terminator, stuff like
|||, etc) hasn't worked particularly well.
So, I'm archiving out a table on a daily basis. I want to script out

Firebug is reporting "too much recursion" when I attempt to create a child element in a parent that doesn't exist yet. The script should automatically create the missing parent before going on to create the child element.
