Hello Tim,
Do've an example on using Rebol to connect to mySQL via TCP/IP?
How do you do it? How do you execute SQL quieries? Return results etc ?
Do you use some kind of "middleware " that your communicating to from Rebol
via TCP/IP which gets the data for you?
I'm actually a Delphi, Java, VB, Perl & Ruby developer (done alittle Rebol
before) but found it strange that your using TCP/IP to communicate with
mySQL.
Kind Regards,
Lennie De Villiers

I first came across rebol a while ago; it seemed interesting but then
i was put off by its proprietary nature, although the core of the
language is a free download.
Recently however, i can't help but say i was totally impressed. I
needed an open source wikiblog/wikilog, whatever you wanna call it,
basically a hybrid of a blog and a wiki. I checked out snipsnap, which
uses java, it was said on their site to be a clone of vanilla, a...

I've read some posts on Perl versus Python and studied a bit of my
Python book.
I'm a software engineer, familiar with C++ objected oriented
development, but have been using Perl because it is great for pattern
matching, text processing, and automated testing. Our company is really
fixated on risk managnemt and the only way I can do enough testing
without working overtime (which some people have ended up doing) is by
automating my...

I am working on a cgi script that is suppose to pop-up a javascript
box from the following perl variables:$TodayDate, $LinkCity,
$LinkState. I recently encountered a problem with the $LinkCity
variable when the city Coeur d'Alene was read. It appears that
javascript is intrepreting the quote to end after d'. I've tried
reversing the quotes (instead of " ' ' ", ' " " ') and using the
javascript escape command. Neither worked. Please help!...

So, I download the latest "stable" tar for perl (5.8.7) and try to compile
it on the Solaris 8 (SPARC) box that I administrate. I try all sorts of
different switches, but I can't get it to compile. I need it to be
compiled with threads.
Anyone have any wisdom on how best to do this?
Here's a transcript of my latest attempt. It's long; you might want to
skip to the bottom, where I try "make" and the fatal errors start
happening.

I'm trying to install to php the Perl-1.0.0.tgz package (from
http://pecl.php.net/package/perl, enabling one to call perl libraries)
to a pre-existing Solaris system.
Unfortunately, the attempt fails in a rather dramatic way, spewing out
thousands of "relocation remains"... I'm somewhat lost on what to do
next, the documentation that came along with the Perl package is
somewhat sparse. Anyone have suggestions?

I may be involved in a data migration project involving databases and
creating XML feeds. Our site is PHP based, so I imagine the team might
suggest PHP, but I had a look at the PHP documentation for one of the
Pear modules for creating XML and it didn't look like much. I've used
Perl XML:Twig and I have the impression that there is more Perl stuff
available as well as the Perl stuff being well documented as I have a
Perl DBI book, a Perl...

Note: You may skip to the end of the article if all you want is the perl code.
Introduction
Uploading files from a local computer to a remote web server has many useful purposes, the most obvious of which is the sharing of files. For example, you upload images to a server to share them with other people over the Internet. Perl comes ready equipped for uploading files via the CGI.pm module, which has long been a core module and allows users...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
