hi all,
i am a new-bie,
should i even think of using mySQL in the following scenario ?
i have a situation in mind where two or three ( sometimes concurrently ) =
people will be making invoices, on three computers in different =
locations on lan.
what front end tools should i think of using for dataentry clients ?
how can i print invoices from the database, on a specific printer only, =
when somebody ( with a username and pswd ) gives a command from anywhere =

My ISP provides a web based email client, but it is not brandable and the features are not that extensive. I'd like to build my own. Has anyone done this, or is anyone aware of any tools out there to do this? BV. www.iheartmypond.com

I think this is the basic concept in ASP server-side development. My boss told me web application is NOT client-server application. I argued with him because browser is the client, and the server code put in server. Then web application should be a client-server application. My understanding is that a web application is an application that runs on a browser. But client-server application is not necessary a web application. Please...

Hey all: I know that it is silly in the age of Google to 'lose' something on the internet, but I recently checked out a project that had implemented a database with a subset of SQL in pure client-side javascript. I forgot to bookmark it, and now I can't find it. Anyone?

SQL Server will be used as the back-end database to a non trivial client application. In question is the choice of client application: I need to be able to speak intelligently about when one client (MS Access vs ..NET Windows Forms) would be preferred over the other. While I have some good arguments on both sides, I would appreciate your points of view on the topic.

Hello friends, I want to know if it is possible to develop a browser based application for the local desktop (running win XP) without the need for a web server. This should be something like google desktop search. I should be able to submit a form to say a php script but without the web server running. Google desktop search uses the following url (on my pc) http://127.0.0.1:4664/&s=eHBfrbI3_MvaWmn9J9x2UG-xh6U .

I would like to obtain encypted data over a network in real-time. The nature of the data and process is as follows... A physical hardware device is located at some remote location. When the sensor gets activated, it must notify an operator at a remote facility within seconds (probably no less than 2 seconds). The device is attached to some computer system by a network and will transmit various types and amounts of data once the device is...

I have decided to create a browser based Php application for a client/friend of mine (HTML forms to PDF, for one - perhaps a contacts interface). He has a web site, so I can upload the application to his web site, which is on a LAMP platform. The only down side to this is that if he can not get online, he can not use the application. So, as a backup, I want to find the easiest (simplest) way for him to be able to run the application on...

Hi all - I am starting a plan for building a web application based on .NET 2.0 Framework in conjunction with Spring Framework. However, my market requirements requires me to allow the application to run completely offline in the browser. Meaning, the same application that is deployed on our servers, would have to be deployed (along with the DB) on the client's machine and run completely disconnected. Since this is new to me, I like to...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
