Is there any means of running MySQL (3.23, mostly MyISAM tables running on
Win2k Server) so that escaped character sequences (those preceded by a
backslash \) are _not_ interpretted as anything other than literals? We're
trying to port a large number of web applications that previously used MS SQL
and Access to use MySQL Server and this has been a big headache so far - even
just in migrating the data from one to the other.
Thanks,
Jim

I'm worried about idiot users that write long essays in Microsoft Word,
then log into their accounts and bring up an HTML form and copy and
paste the essay and hit submit. Or perhaps they do this using
WordPerfect. Or perhaps they use MacWrite.
I output everything from my site as UTF-8. I'd like to check the input
for characters that are not UTF-8 and then turn the bad ones to an
ASCII question mark. I could loop through a string as if...

Hi,
Is it possible to use special characters like \n or \t in a VB.NET
string, just like in C#? My guess is NO, but maybe there's something I
don't know.
If it's not possible, does anybody know of a VB.NET function (somebody
must have coded this already) that will interpret strings containings
those special characters, and handle them the same as in C#?

I am having a problem with the "escape" character \e. This code is in my
Windows form KeyPress event. The compiler gives me "unrecognized escape
sequence" even though this is documented in MSDN. Any idea if this is a bug?
if (e.KeyChar == '\e')

this.Close();

I am struggling to find definitive information on how IE 5.5, 6 and 7
handle character input (I am happy with the display of text).
I have two main questions:
1. Does IE automaticall convert text input in HTML forms from the

Hello,
I was wondering what is the correct way to handle special characters
via javascript and the DOM. I would like to avoid document.write and
innerHTML. What I am doing is dynamically creating options for a
select. The innerHTML example below works for firefox and internet
explorer, but is this the accepted way of dynamically adding special
characters.
option = document.createElement("OPTION");

Purpose
The purpose of this article is to discuss the difference between characters inside a character class and outside a character class and some special characters inside a character class. This is not a regular expression tutorial. Assumes you are already familiar with basic regular expression concepts and terminology. If not, you may want to read some regular expression tutorial. See the end of the article for links to online resources....

Hi everybody,
I am new to Python, I try to understand how Python treats special
characters. For example, if I execute the following line in a shell
console, I obtain a colored string:
$ python -c "print '\033
ColorReset = os.environ
Esc = os.environ
print '%s%s%s%s%s' % (Esc, Color, " foo ", Esc, ColorReset)

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
