sending text from actionscript to mySQL

4 New Member
Hello everyone, hope u r all well.

Got a bit of a simple question. I have a textArea box (mesgArea.text) where a user can write a simple message and then press a send button ("sendMsg").

All i really need is when that user presses the sendMsg button, for the message to be stored in the field called "messagedescrip tion" in the "messages" table in mySQL database.

Thus when i look in the actual database the message typed by the user in flash will be stored in the "messagedescrip tion" field in mySQL.

I have been told that the loadVars method may be useful.

I am utterly stuck. Does anyone know the actionscript/PHP for this?

Thank you for all your help.

Am I correct to assume that any changes to a control's properties or changes to a ViewState("Name") are not available until after the Page_Load fires? If so, how can you set a flag in a control event so that you can take action on postback? I have the following code..... The window.alert always reads 0 Private Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As

I am having a problem with the C api with prepared statements, the data recorded in the database does not match the data I am sending. It seems to be some sort of bit shifted version of the data, and I have no idea why. I am including code I have been using to test this, followed by the output in the database. I am using mysql version 4.1.12, I have tried this on multiple servers, remote and local.

Hello! I have problem: I have IPB forum installed. After search in IPB (search takes about 3-4 seconds for post table about 300 000 records) mysql shows "Sending Data" status and takes about 3-5 minutes. I tested with PHP 5.2, PHP 4.4, PHP 4.2.3 - with same results. I switched from MySQL 4.2.18 to 4.2.21 and 4.2.22 with same result.

I am using the xml object in flash actionscript to create an xml file. it reads and parses xml from a text file, and adds to that xml file. then using the XML.send(); I want to send it to a perl file, and have the perl script write to text file. in perl, how do I set it up so that it will read accept the xml sent from the actionscript? should it be a .pl or .cgi file? example: newElement = myXML.createElement(player1);...

Hi All! Well, i'm modifying a dynamic map, with lat and long datapoints, my problem is it loads in text perfectly onto exact points I specify on the map, ..well now I want to load in icons(images) instead of text. (yes i'm being difficult) and i'd like the text to load into a static placeholder symbol instead. Problem is, I can get images to load in a separate file, text to load in a separate file, and text to appear in a static...

I've been trying to implement simple lines of XML into my flash file created with ActionScript 3.0, but things seem not to be working. All I want to do is to load an external XML file (data.xml), and output the content which are inside the <project text="content to show"></project> tags into a scripted text field. Here are what I've been doing so far: var txtFldPassage:TextField = new TextField(); txtFldPassage.multiline =...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
