Hi, I really hope one of you gurus can help me out here.
I need to create a webform that has two drop-down boxes and allows a
user to select a harddrive manufacturer and another for a harddrive
capacity and then spit out a price.
I don't have access to a database or server side scripting and cannot
link to an outside source. (The file will reside on a public folder on
the company network).

Is it possible to establish a connection from within a postgres database to
another external database on the network, i.e., not a java or scripting
connection, BUT by some type of table definition within the postgres
database of that external database table source - something similar to a
proxy definition.
Examples of external database could be MSAccess, Oracle, Sybase,
MSQLServer, etc.
The idea behind this would to be able to at least...

Having trouble installing my 180 day Visual Studio 2005 trial disk.
The CD that was sent is actually a DVD not a CD. My home PC only has a CD
drive.
I attempted to install on an external drive using a work PC with a DVD drive
and then use the external drive from my home PC. Unfortunately the install
process puts files on the hard drive of the work PC as well as on the
external drive. So I can not run the software from my home PC using the...

i've got mysql 5.0 and I have 50 million records in a text file on an
external USB 2.0 hard drive. I can import the file into a mySQL
database on my laptop - but I don't want the database on my laptop. I
want that database to be physically located on that usb connected hard
drive instead of my laptop. Can anyone tell me how to set up the
database on my laptop, but with a physical location of the data on the
external hard drive? Oh -...

Hi all,
I am new to access and I face the following "issue":
I would like to create a database, to which users can upload files
(=pdf, doc, xls...). The files shall be stored locally on a server.
The database needs to be accessed via Access form (no html, asp,...) as
we don't have an internal web server running.
I would like to create a form that allows the user to browse his local
harddrive, select the file and upload it directly...

I have a database that raises an error when you try to open it and it
doesn't open. Trying to open the database with the OpenDatabase method
raises the same error. Trying to import any objects (tables, queies, forms,
etc) from the database raises the same error. Trying to link to the tables
in the database raises the same error. I am guessing there is an autoexec
macro or code in the open event of the opening form that contains the error....

I have seen similar questions posted here but no result for my situation so
here goes. I have a fairly new Maxtor OneTouch III Turbo Terabyte external
drive (raid) and a new Dell 690 Precision also raid.....on XP. The maxtor
was working fine and I was backing up data to it for a couple of months.
Then all of a sudden the computer did not recognize it. I tried device
manager, uninstalling & reinstalling driver, etc. I tried other USB...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
