Hi
I am trying to find out best practices for SQL Server 2000 installs
for corporate servers. We currently have someone doing it 'in their
spare time!' (I kid you not). When installing SQL server 2000 out of
the box on a freshly formatted machine, I would like to get some
feedback on the following:
1) I believe the 'sa' account should be removed at earliest
opportunity, after install.

Hello All!
I am writing a management application, which has to access remote machines
registry via System.Diagnostics.EventLog.CreateEventSource .
For each machine, I connect to, I create a DirectoryEntry and connect to
that machine specifying credentials. That's becauase the running user does
not has the right permissions .
The application is written in C# and the action taken is done with threads
from the threadpool.

Hello,
I have developed a web application that connects to 2 different database
servers. The connection strings with db username + password are stored in
web.config file.
After a code review, one developer suggested that it's a security flaw;
therefore connection strings should be kept somewhere else or encrypted.
My argument is that web.config file is protected by IIS and Windows security
which is the case. And another argument is that...

I am generating a html email for internal office use and I have embeded
JavaScript that creates a interactive map (yahoo/google). this map
will display when the email is opened in outlook 2000 but it will not
display when you open it with 2003. I have attempted to enable
everything in the internet security zone and it still will not work.
Is there any way to allow this script in the email?

I have a question regarding a VB.NET 2003 application which was built
on a Windows XP machine with Office 2002 installed. The software does

However, it is not functioning correctly. The application DOES work
on a Windows XP machine running Office 2003. I am referencing the

I need to create an ASP.NET app that is going to be published on an

forms authentication or anonymous access).
The app will utilize a SQL database on the same server, and I was
wondering how I should handle SQL security.
For internal apps I always use a single unprivileged SQL account per

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
