I install a mysql server in default installation with latin charset, but
I want to use GBK(a chinese charset), so that I can store and
search chinese words directly.
so, I download, unpack and then rewrite the mysql.spec and then recompile
the
package mysql-3.23.56-1.80.src.rpm.

Is my understanding of the MySQL license correct for this situation?
If I write software that uses MySQL as in client/server. I can distribute
both together commercially so long as I make it clear that the source is
available and maybe changed ie propagate the GPL license?

I would like to have MySQL use a mapped network drive. I'd like to do
this in case there is a failure of the mysql machine, I can just replace
it with a new machine pointing to the same network drive. Is this
possible at all?

I suddenly find myself in urgent need of instruction on how to
communicate with a MySQL database table on a web server, from inside
of my company's Access-VBA application. I know VBA pretty well but
have never before needed to do this HTTP/XML/MySQL type functions.

I was wondering how it may be possible to query 2 MySQL databases using
one query statement from PHP.
For instance: SELECT database1.tableA.field1 UNION
database2.tableB.field2.
My concern is, when connecting to MySQL (or sending a query), I only
specify 1 database connection resource ID. How does that play out when
connecting to 2 databases?
