mobile services architecture

1 New Member
Hi Guys

Im just starting work on a masters and Im going to be looking at the new IMS services API (JSR 281). As it was only finalized last june im having trouble finding out exactly which devices support the new JSR. Ive searched around google but I couldt find anything concrete only that it is supported in phones that support the MSA 2. I tried to ring a few operators to see if they knew of any devices that supported it but they were no help!! So can anyone point me in the right direction for a mobile device that will support an application developed using the IMS services API??

Cheers

Hello to all, I'm looking into providing mobile access to a web based administrative application currently running on .Net with MS SQL. The current architecture only supports the latest Internet Explorer browser due to elaborate dependencies on client side XML libraries, so I'm told. My problem is lack of knowledge of mobile client capabilities. I need insight into which architecture to use, more on this follows. The requirements for...

Sometimes, mobile sites pop up, like this new one: http://mobile.answers.com/ (The source is funny -- absolute font-sizes, JavaScript, inline styles... and this is supposed to be the *accessible* version, right?) Or this older one: http://www.google.com/xhtml And then of course there was WAP1 using WML.

Hi, My security team thinks allowing communication between the two IIS instances leads to severe security risks. Basically, we want to put our presentation tier on the perimeter network and the business tier inside the fire wall or internal network. The biz tier will be developed and deployed as web services on IIS. I know microsoft recommends this architecture but I am not able to convince my security team. They say IIS is vulnerable...

Hi I have an application which runs on a desktop. I want to synchronise the DB with a PDA app, which also uses SQL Server 2005 (mobile and express). I believe that I will need to write my own synchronization application, in order to update the data across the machines. My questions are: - Is there a way of picking up an event that will notify my application when the PDA is connected to the desktop??

I have seen many articles describing why versioning web services are important. I have a scenario that I would like to propose to seek a solution. I have a publicly consumable web service. Two different clients, A and B, consume this service. I make framework and architecture modifications that are needed to my web services. Client "A" is ready for the upgrade while client "B" is not ready. I have to publish the update immediately...

Hi. I have Mobile site that I'm building. My problem is that all of my pages are built as Mobile ASPX pages, but occasionally, I need to use controls which are not mobile. Most specifically, the "FileUpload" control. Now, most phones don't support this feature, but some do and for them I need to place and use this control. How can I insert a FileUpload control on a Mobile ASPX? Alex

I saw a MS demo a few years back where they developed a web page and the software automatically rendered it for different devices. Is this what I'm looking for? http://www.asp.net/mobile/ Much of the info looks old. I have a MSDN account where can I download it or is it already in VS 2008 and I just don't know how to find it? I'm mainly interested in having simple pages render in Internet Explorer

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
