How to start with mobile application development ?

1 New Member
I am having 4 years of programming experience in Dotnet(Web, Windows, Webservices etc). Now I want to get into the mobile development. I am looking into various aspects mainly development platform/development tool/framework and wide support. I have googled it a lot but couldn't get anything specific to start with, I want to develop platform independent commercial apllications. As I am totally new to this field, any help will be highly appreciated.

Hi,

If your strengths lie in .Net a nice place to start is Windows Mobile development. You can download Windows Mobile 5/6 SDKs from microsoft here these plug directly into Visual Studio and allow you to create applications for PDAs running WM operating systems and using the .Net Compact framework. You can also download emulators for the PDAs there too sso you can run and test the apps without even having a PDA.

Hope this helps,

Welcome to mobile development, we hope to hear from you again here!

Another option to consider is Flash Lite, which is compatible with some Nokia and Samsung phones, and the coding is pretty simple, it's very similar to C#.net if you are experienced with that...

Hello to all, I'm looking into providing mobile access to a web based administrative application currently running on .Net with MS SQL. The current architecture only supports the latest Internet Explorer browser due to elaborate dependencies on client side XML libraries, so I'm told. My problem is lack of knowledge of mobile client capabilities. I need insight into which architecture to use, more on this follows. The requirements for...

I posted this to the aspnet.mobile group, however there appears to be little activity there. So I am trying here for I am really stuck. I am really confused as I browse Microsoft’s MSDN in regard to mobile development and VS2005. I go to the mobile asp net page: http://www.asp.net/default.aspx?tabindex=4&tabid=44 The things I read in here seem to refer to VS2003 or are just plain old. I go to device update and the latest update is...

I saw a MS demo a few years back where they developed a web page and the software automatically rendered it for different devices. Is this what I'm looking for? http://www.asp.net/mobile/ Much of the info looks old. I have a MSDN account where can I download it or is it already in VS 2008 and I just don't know how to find it? I'm mainly interested in having simple pages render in Internet Explorer

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
