Regarding PerfMon.

4 New Member
Hi all,
Is this possible to have different number of instances for different counter of same performance object in PerfMon (windows tool).

i.e.

Object: test
counters: c1, c2, c3, c4

instances i1, i2

can we have in the perfmon GUI some thing like below:
click on c1 it shows i1 i2
click on c2 it shows i1 i2
click on c3 it shows i1 i2
click on c4 it shows i2 (not i1 )

Quick replies will be deeply appreaciated.

Thanks

Hi,

can you be a bit more clear on this? I'm not really sure what you are after....

Neither am I. PerfMon monitors metrics that you want it to. They are system wide metrics. For example you run an application and you want to see how much the system bogs down when you are running it. You fire up perfmon and run your app and see what happens to the system.

If you want to look at events then try kernel tracker.

Recently, using PERFMON, I've been rather dismayed to find that our application is averaging 3 - 4 lock timeouts per second, and frequently has extended periods of several minutes where this figure reaches the hundreds. Average LockWaits/sec are less than 0.05, and TableLockEscalations/sec are less than 0.5 These last two seem very good to me, and as a result I would intuitively expect a LockTimeout figure of near-zero.

Hello, I have a Windows Server 2003 machine running IIS6.0. I recently xcopied over an ASP.NET application that was originally running on a Windows 2000 Server machine. The application works perfectly on the new server, however, when I run perfmon and try to look at the stats then everything shows up as 0 when viewing anything under the following performance objects:

just to see how viewstate may be affecting the performance of an excessive page reload time, are there certain perfmon counters under ASP.NET performance object that would be helpful to utilize? thanks, -hazz

I have a situation where accessing perfmon counters remotely does not display the same list of Performance Objects remotely as it does when doing it from the host of SQL Server. From the host of SQL Server if I run perfmon.exe I will see performance objects for all instances of SQL Server running. I.E. all entries for default instance "SQLServer:....", all entries for non default instance like "MSSQL$.....". But If I run perfmon from...

I am trying to do some monitoring of some PerfMon counters and have a question. Does PerfMon figure out the Minimum, Maximum, Average values for each counter? Or are those values part of the performance monitoring subsystem and can be accessed via the System.Diagnostics.PerformanceCounter object. I haven't found an obvious way to get to the Minimum, Maximum, Average values for a counter. Thanks.

Hello everyone, I found using performance counter API and using perfmon counter will result in different numeric result. Here is an example, and in the example code, virtual bytes is always larger than working set, but in perfmon, working set is always larger than working set. Any ideas?

I am playing around with WCF instance and concurrency management. I set InstanceContextMode = Single and ConcurrencyMode = Multiple. I fired 5 concurrent calls from the client and expected to see concurrent calls in perfmon.exe as well as debug outputs in visual studio. But all the calls were serialized. I also tried InstanceContextMode = PerCall and ConcurrencyMode = Single and got the same serialized result. I pulled my hair out and...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
