A java program we have written crashes with IBM JDK 1.3.1 on linux.
It works fine on other platforms(Solaris,HPUx). It gets a SIGSERV
Signal 11 and crashes just after few minutes after starting up. THe
program creates a good number of threads.
Any suggestions most welcome.
Have tried following
setting LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5
disabling JIT by passing -Djava.compiler=NONE

Hi there
We are to make the decision on whether to choose .Net or J2EE. One of the questions my client asked is that, can we run the .Net application on Unix and Unix based database systems on server site?
Can we develop client application on VS.Net and put database on Unix environment? Can Web Services be deployed onto Unix environment
Any advice?

Hi, I'm interested in getting started in the programming world. I've dabbled
in C, C++ and VB6. Which would be the best language to focus my attention to
regarding the following considerations:
Hireability
Portability
Flexibility
The likely candidates seem to be Java, VB.Net, C, C++, C#.

I am interested in making some changes and additions to the Python
environment (Python and IDLE). I have the source code and can build the
source, but what I want to know is what are the "main" functions or
source code for Python and IDLE. Specifically I would like to know what
in Python and IDLE would be analogous to void main () in a standard C
program. This will help me to work out the structure of the interpreter
and the environment....

Hi,
It's seems that csh and tcsh acts a bit different when handling
special characters in quotes.
i.e: if i'll supply my program with the following arguments: -winpath
"c:\\temp\\"
tcsh will take it as -winpath "c:\temp\"
and csh will take it literally (with the double-slashes).
Is there a way for me to know what shell is currently running my

Hi,
I'm wondering what kind of things do I need to look out for when converting my .cmg scripts to Unix scripts. (I want the same inputs and outputs, but I'm now running on a Unix Server.
I know that the scripts are basically similar, and that a lot of the commands will probably remain the same, but I'm too unfamiliar with shell commands to know exactly.
Are there any useful links available on this topic, or some sound advice...... or...

Hi,
I just downloaded/installed GCC from MinGW ... worked beautifully.
I downloaded a small Windows C++ source and executable example from
http://www.cplusplus.com/src/. The .exe works fine. The .cpp
#includes a windows.h header.
Is there a publicly available Win32 version of windows.h?

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
