Can't run Kubuntu live-cd

I have a self-burned live-cd of Kubuntu (7.10, 64-bit), But when I try to start, I only get as far as the bootscreen ("start/install kubuntu", "check cd for errors" and some other options). When I choose the start/install option, my screen states "no input", and then there's nothing but the sound of my fans. What could be wrong?

Hm, are you trying it on a Desktop PC or a Laptop? You're System has a 64-bit CPU I guess? Have you tried the boot options? (The bootscreen says "Press F3 to get further bootoptions" or something like that.) It sound's like the signal is lost somewhere...
Best would be, if you give us some details about your system. Things like graphics card or screen could be important.

You also might want to try booting into "Graphical safe mode". I had a similar problem trying to install Ubuntu Gutsy on my laptop and that helped.

Oh yeah, it is solved already, it turned out to be a badly burned cd.

In my development environment, the validation controls work fine. (Incidentally, i am using almost all of them). However, when i deploy my ASP.NET application to the live production environment, using VS .NET's "Copy Project" feature, which copys only the files necessary to run on another machine, the validation controls simply disappear. For example, when i click SUBMIT to submit a form that's empty, the validation controls don't do...

I have been developing a new application (FE on local drive) which is attached to tables in a BE on a server. For testing purposes I had a copy of the BE in the same folder as the live BE and the application and forms loaded quickly. The application is now ready to go live and using the linked table manager I have tried relinking the tables to the live BE. The tables (around 50) relink but it takes a while through the linked table...

Here is a more visual example of the technique presented in Logan Koester's article, "Live Coding in Python" (http://www.logankoester.com/mt/2006/07/live_coding_with_python_1.html). It's very quick-and-dirty in style, partly because half of the program was written in a moment of inspiration, and the other half was written and rewritten in real-time... :-D I've only tested this on Linux, using python 2.4.3. Reports of working or...

I have been waiting for this ages and it's finally happened! Python meet Live, Live meet Python! There's now a wonderful (public) bridge between (arguably) the most exciting and innovative and easy-to-use realtime software sequencer and (arguably) the most exciting and innovative and easy-to-use computer programming language out there. I know the love will flow both ways (btw, they're having problems with the mac os x port, hint,...

Day 2 of Kubuntu, problem # 2: I'd told you I'd be back :) Short Version: When I try to start Kubuntu it freezes when it starts to load the desktop (a.k.a X server right?). It loads up the splash screen and it freezes on the third icon (the globe looking thing). I click on the icon after it freezes and it displays a message that stated that it had no write access to home/studly/.ICauthority. Longer Version: I just finished installing...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
