I have a cd with Ubuntu on it. It runs fine from the disk, but i want to install it onto my hard drive. Is it possible to double boot Windows XP and Ubuntu on the same hard drive, without deleting anything?

Yes, but you will need to use a repartitioning tool to make your Windows partition smaller. Then you will need to instruct Ubuntu to install in the free, unpartitioned space on the drive.
Or you could install a second hard drive.

thanks, but i decided not to partition my harddrive and just overwrite everything.

i already am. i spent about 5 minutes moving a window around with the 'wobble' window effect. gotta love A.D.D

Try to maximize the window and then hold down Alt and drag it. Awsome and totaly useless.
You have to try Beryl tho, Its even worse.

Ok... I have a Windows PC, and I read about Linux on it. It seemed interesting, so I inserted a hard drive I don't use and installed Ubuntu on that. I liked it, and now I want to set it up so that when I start my PC, I can choose either XP or Ubuntu, but I don't want to lose any of my Windows files. I am running a multi-threaded python application in a dual core intel
running Ubuntu.
I am using python 2.5.1 that I compiled myself. At random points I am
getting segmentation faults (sometimes indicating a duplicate free).
Below is the backtrace of the latest segfault.
I am thinking this might be an issue related to the dual core CPU so I

I just installed Ubuntu 7.04 on my computer today. I have both Ubuntu and Windows on my computer. It worked fine for a while, both Ubuntu and Windows booted properly. But i went to go use Windows, and everytime I select "Windows XP Home Edition" The computer restarts and goes to the boot menu again. Anyone know what the problem might be?

Yesterday i installed Fedora 9 (removing Fedora 8) on my system. During the install i configured it to boot my XP partition by default but its booting Fedora by default. The grub.conf seems right, so i'm not too sure else i should do...is there another file that has to be edited?
Also i can't get into my windows partitions from fedora (wasn't a problem with version 8). the windows partitions are NTFS. I know linux can't write to NTFS drives...

I have a dual patition with vista(not functioning) on the c drive as primary
capadity 108GB 2 used, and an E drive running XP 40GB 39.6Gb used. Please
note I like the vista program. But in this instance I think it would be best
