When during the process of setting up RH9 did you get the error message? Is this RHEL?

When installing the rpms (or the tar file) onto Red Hat Enteprise Linux AS Beta 1 (Taroon), we get the follwing error: Installing all prepared tables /usr/bin/mysql_install_db: line 1: 7690 Segmentation fault /usr/sbin/mysqld --bootstrap --skip-grant-tables --basedir=/ --datadir=/var/lib/mysql --skip-innodb --skip-bdb Installation of grant tables failed The log file simply shows a start and a stop of the server.

Well.... just wanted to know if the people at the MySQL.org site ever look at the posts in this group. If they do, they can possibly us a little constructive criticism from a slightly irritated customer. Seems to me that if someone installs Redhat 9 with MySQL from the original CD source which is version 3.23.54a and then follows the instructions at the MySQL website on upgrading to a newer version....(4.0.22) then, it should work. I...

I wish to fread a few thousand bytes at a time in turn from several very large files from a DVD data disk, under Redhat Fedora Linux. When this is done the DVD drive wastes a lot of time and almost shakes itself to pieces. I tried using setvbuf, with large buffers, e.g. (example only, not checked): #include <stdio.h>

I recently purchased a second-hand laptop without any sort of recovery or system CD, that had Ubuntu Linux on it. I am looking to put Windows XP back on, however, my copy of XP Pro cannot find the hard drive - in the setup, it will claim there is no partionable media available. Previously I have been able to use a Linux CD to format a hard drive to FAT32 or NTFS, and then do a Windows install, however, this time it does not work. I have...

Recently read an article by Felix Lee: Setting up DB2 for UNIX and Linux on NFS mounted file systems ( http://tinyurl.com/yuxbk3 ). I was wondering why would anyone want to setup things like this. About 6 months beck, in my previous engagement, the system architect asked if this was possible. I told him offhand that it is and that I 'll confirm from IBM. Had opened a PMR with IBM regarding the same and the techrep replied the same thing...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
