How did you lose these files?
Have you continued to use the system since this has happened?

The war of the OSes was won a long time ago. Unix has always been, and will continue to be, the Server OS in the form of Linux. Microsoft struggled mightily to win that battle -- creating a poor man's DBMS, a broken email server and various other /application/ servers to try and crack the Internet and IS markets. In the case where they didn't spend their own money to get companies to

Hi Everyone, I wrote a for loop to build several select statements that are combined with a UNION. When I execute one of the queries separately, it works, but when I execute the query with a UNION it returns: ERROR 2013 (HY000): Lost connection to MySQL server during query I am able to run additional queries after I get the error, so the connection is not lost. I have tried running the query with the union on MySQL Query Browser and...

http://www.joelonsoftware.com/articles/APIWar.html "So you've got the Windows API, you've got VB, and now you've got .NET, in several language flavors, and don't get too attached to any of that, because we're making Avalon, you see, which will only run on the newest Microsoft operating system, which nobody will have for a loooong time. And personally I still haven't had time to learn .NET very deeply, and we haven't ported Fog...

I don't know how it happened. I have hundreds of hours worth of work invested in a file I foolishly named DB9.mdb. I was intending on renaming the file soon. But I neglected to do so before getting caught up in a new project. When I did, I forgot about the filename I was working under. One day, and I don't know how long ago it was, I deleted db*.mdb and db*.ldb from the development directory as a routine part of disk housekeeping.

A signed int can contain up to 2Gig, 2 147 483 648, to be exact. Since The Mars rovers landed, I have been storing the photographs in two directories, Spirit and Opportunity. I had more than 18 000 files in a single directory. Without being aware of it, I crossed the 2 147 483 648 border last week. Nothing happens, if you do not attempt to read all files in the directory, or even worst, copy them to another drive.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
