Is there a way to get IE 6 to print in landscape without requiring the
user to select it as a preference from the print dialog?

Yes there is.

Download the free version of ScriptX, drop it onto your server,
reference the object in your HTML/Javascript, provide a button with an
onclick event to trigger it all, voila - instant landscape & (if you
want) fit to page printing :-)
