Hello,
I've been playing with the idea of just how to use an ASP page to provide a
remote function call. In an ideal world this would be a web service but how
can you do it if restricted to ASP 3.0 ?
Idea 1 was to write an ASP page that accepted arguments using the classic
?X=1&Y=2 type of strings and have the page return an ADO disconnected record
set containing the results of the action. This is call very well, and works,
but you do...

Folks,
I'm sure this can be done legally, and not thru tricks of the trade - I
hope someone can help.
I'm writing a 'tool' (a function) which can be used generically in any
of my projects. When it completes, it can call a success, or a failure
function. The names of these success, or failure functions will differ,
and I'd like to know how I can pass the name of a function to my tool,
and how my tool can call the function, using that...

Hi there,
I am now having a puzzle regarding what a function call actually does when
called.
I have a simple code to see what's going on. It is simply calling another
simple function from main().
The disassembled code for the function under linux (with gcc) looks like this:
pushl %ebp ;push old %ebp
movl %esp, %ebp ;make new stack frame

Hi;
I'm building a control that has a DataTable's property type. The control contains treeview which
is populated in foreach crossing rows of the DataTable established in the property.
I require a mechanism so that when they change the loaded data of the DataTable these are
reflected in treeview.
Somebody can offer information to me...

I have run an experiment to try to learn some things about floating point
performance in managed C++. I am using Visual Studio
2003. I was hoping to get a feel for whether or not it would make sense to
punch out from managed code to native code (I was using
IJW) in order to do some amount of floating point work and, if so, what that
certain amount of floating point work was
approximately.
To attempt to do this I made a program that...

There seems to be a bug in de VS .net C++ compiler (optimization) when using
inline functions that return static data.
The following code demonstrates this (Win32 console app with ATL support):
#include "stdafx.h"
#include <atltime.h>
int _tmain(int argc, _TCHAR* argv)

Hi there,
I am currently translating a VB 6.0 application to .NET and have the
following problem:
The data structure I need to pass to a DLL function call has a structure
variable inside its structure:
Private Structure CstData_type
Dim Cst_AZ As DbLong

However, I'm fail to compile the code.
What is the correct grammar to make a function call by using static

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
