How Does Ad Tracking Work?

I know that ad companies can track sites that contain their ads that
you have visited. This is used to tailor the ads that you see. Does
anyone know where I can find detailed information on how that is done.
This is just for my own interest.

Well, probably like affiliate programs do.

They give you an affiliate id that goes in all the links. Every time the
link is clicked, a script runs that updates a DB.

So, your link looks like
<a href="myCompany .com?affiliate= yourSite">your link</a>
When someone clicks on that to go to myCompany.com, myCompany.com's page
looks at the affiliate parameter and updates their database saying that
your affiliate got another clickthrough.

I can't think of any more detail that could be needed.

This is my current strategy for tracking hyperlink clicking by a site visitor (Internet Explorer example): Using Javascript I: Attach an event to the document "onclick" handler. When a click occurs, the Javascript "onclick" event hander I assigned, checks to see if the event srcElement (or its parent in the case of a "font" element) is a hyperlink (tagName = "A" or "a"). If so, I build a URL with the search arguments set to the...

Mike, I have databse that creates a "tracking number" based on the selections made on the form via concatenating. At the end of the tracking number, I need a two digit (01-99) sequence number by product group for each customer. Hpw do I do this without creating a table for each customer and each product group with autonumbers. For example based on the entries in this sample, the desired result would be: Customer Business Unit Tracking...

Hi everyone, I am writing a small low level embedded USB application using C++/CLI windows Forms. I am sort of new to the C++/CLI and having trouble understanding what happens in this very simple line of code: I have a reference class pic_usbapi, declared in "pic_usbapi.h". I want to create an object of the class and have a tracking handle for it.

So I figured out that if you use this html: http://wwwapps.ups.com/WebTracking/processInputRequest?sort_by=status&tracknums_displayed=1&TypeOfInquiryNumber=T&loc=en_US&InquiryNumber1=<TRACKING NUMBER HERE>&track.x=0&track.y=0 it will link you directly to the UPS tracking page for the specified tracking number. I think it would be really cool to be able to click a tracking number record in a table and have it take you directly to the...

My regards to the community, I am relatively new in the field of testing. We are a group of five software engineers we work for a small company. Our QA department is on a look out for a system or a tool which lets our QA head monitor the overall test process and also monitor individual team members progress. So far, I came across some tools like e-Manager, QADirector, Zephyr, though I don't have any hands-on experience using these tools. Could...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
