All a user has to do to get around this is either turn off script or
view the source and copy/paste from that.

Is there any way to disable text selection in a web page (or at least render it invisible to the user)? One disadvantage of designing with CSS and without tables appears to be that selecting specific block of text from a web page to copy and paste, or in order for it to be read by a text-to-speech programme is very difficult. My own website www.webswonder.co.uk is an example. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to overcome this please?...

Hi all, I've got a datagrid which is readonly and is used to list a resultset from a query. From this set the user can select one and details of that show up. What annoys me is that I can't seems to get rid of the text selection stuff. If you click in the grid on any text it selects it, navigating the grid with your keyboard shows a gray...

I've read two threads that have been closed in which a user posed the question, "Can I disable text selection using CSS?" The responses were either hopeless or critical of the inquirer. I thought it'd be a nice gesture to answer the question with what was expected as well as some pointers regarding the topic. Answer: YES. An article...

Hi, I'd need some way to prevent users from selecting text in a web page. I'm only interested in Mozilla Firefox family browsers. I came with this javascript snippet so far: onmousedown = "return false;" This works, but it has the problem of disabling inputs too, so the user won't be able to enter them with his pointer.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...
