Can anyone recommend a command line XHTML parser. I want something I can use
in automated builds, not something with a web or GUI interface.
dealing with JavaScript would be helpful; dealing with Java Server pages
(with embedded Java code) would be optimal.
I've tried 'tidy' but its output is cryptic.

I'm having trouble getting the w3c validator to validate some code as XHTML
1.1 compliant so I though I'd seek help. The validator doesn't give me any
error messages for this code, it just tells me it isn't compliant. I realize
it's not that nice to look at, but it's generated by a php script and trying
to make the html look nicer would make the script look worse.

I've tested some of the new Nokia 6600 functionality. It ships with
WAP2 and XHTML Support (it says). What it does is check the Doctype --
if it's not the XHTML Mobile Profile Doctype, but a XHTML1.0 Strict
one, the media-handheld CSS is _ignored_. Only with the Nokia Doctype,
the CSS is used. I find this really annoying as it goes against the
whole idea of media-independent XHTML Strict along with stylesheets.

I decided to start experimenting with XHTML 2.0, having never messed
with any of its previous versions, except for a quick look at XHTML 1.0
when it came out. When I tried to validate the test document I was
working on, I noticed that the W3C's validator does not yet deal
with XHTML 2.0 files. Does anybody know of a validator that does? Also,
does anybody have any information on when W3C will be updating their
validator in order...

I have a very strange situation -- I have a page that validates (using
http://validator.w3.org/) as "XHTML 1.0 Strict" just fine. This page
uses this DOCTYPE:

How can I make an XHTML-compliant form of an expression in this
