Is there a way to keep hidden fields from being emailed after submitting?

1 New Member
Hi Everyone, this is my first post here.

This may sound weird or silly but I have an HTML form and used javascript to validate fields and I use a CGI to process the data. There are hidden fields too, but I don't want them to be seen in the email that I receive after submitting the form.

I can't modify the CGI, because I don't have permissions but I'm allowed to use it to process the data. I just have access to the HTML page and javascript code. The CGI has some required fields that I don't need, that's why I kind of "solved" this by setting them as "hidden" so the CGI won't throw horrible messages asking me to fill out those required fields. But I don't want them to show up in the resulting email at all. What can I do?

Thanks!

What language is the CGI written in? Without looking at the code there is no way we can know.

Folks, Perhaps someone can figure this out - this is 'the process of my script' I have a form whereby I can add multiple contacts to a single address. There is only one firstname/lastname/telephone box - when the user clicks the add button, I read the values from the form fields and record them into a hidden text input field. This part works because during debugging, I have converted the <input type=hidden> into a <input type=text>...

I have a large form that is generated dynamically in a jsp using xml / xslt. So, to break up this form into several "tabbed" sections, I break up the form using <div> tags. Each <div style="display:none"> can be displayed by setting the style attribute to "display:", or hidden with "display:none". This gives the illusion that the person filling out the form is switching from page to page...without the overhead of extra hits on the server,...

Hi, i know how to pass a value from Javascript to ASP with a hidden field into a form and submitting it, or with cookies, but here i have to pass a lot of data in an array. There is a list of product the visitor can order by clicking one or more checkboxes. I made a form containing input with type "checkbox" like: <form> <input type="checkbox" name=ck id=ck

I would like to add a few hidden field values to a form as it is submited via JavaScript. I have a static page shopping site that uses MIVA shopping cart. Some of the pages are getting quite large and I want to start reducing the amount of code on each page. Replacing tables with divs are helping some but not as much as I would like. Some pages may have up to 100 different items on it and each one has its own form for submitting the...

I have an aspx file named index.aspx which contains two ‘form' sections, one that has the runat=server attribute (e.g From1) and one which is a regular HTML form (e.g SignInForm). I am trying to copy values from two INPUT controls that are located within the Form1 section to hidden INPUT controls located in the SignInForm and post the SignInForm form hidden controls values to a different page (e.g login.aspx) Problem is that after...

Dear all Following the oft-repeated advice here and ciwas I have made my site nearly 4.01 strict (working on it). There are some items on which I would appreciate your advice: 1. Hidden fields http://www.zoo.co.uk/~mmenterprises/contact.htm I am using FormMail from Matt's Script Archive. The W3C validator objected to the hidden fields unless I put, say, P round them. That gave

I am bringing up a popup which has a couple of fields that the user enters. I fill the hidden fields then submit and close the popup which then reverts back to my main form, which retrieves the hidden vars and does the database operation. Seems straight forward enough but I have run into a few stumbling blocks including submitting then closing the popup and reverting control back to the main form to pick up the variables. Someone has to...

....still new to .net 2005 using VB. Do I understand correctly that the value of a session variable is actually stored in the server's ram, but relies on the asp.net session ID cookie that temporarily is placed on the client's machine until the session ends? ...so that you can't use session variables if the client has disabled cookies on their browser? So, this makes session vars much more secure than hidden fields, which are transmitted...

I have long thought there is something missing with HTML forms, in that there should be a provision for a form with hidden input fields, with the whole form being hidden, in particular with no submit button that requires clicking. I have a form that, when processed by a Perl CGI script, sends back a 'Thankyou' message to the user, and I then want to tell the user that in a few seconds he will be taken to the next stage of the process,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
