Hello,
I have a pop-up window that I would like to appear in front of the
browser home page when a user opens IE. Problem is, I'd like it to
never appear again if the user navigates back to the home page during
their time using the browser. However, if the user closes the
browser, then reopens, the pop-up should appear again. (you may have
guessed that this will be used for public access pc's.) I want to try
as best I can to catch...

Hi All,
I have a page with a list of hyperlinks.
I want to save information in a cookie about the fact that I entered an
hyperlink or not.
When I click one of the hyperlinks I want this stored in a cookie and a
small bullit shown in front of the hyperlink,
so when I reload the page I can immediately see which hyperlinks I already
visited that day.

There are two cookie types:
1) session cookie.
2) persistent cookie is the same as tracking cookie?
Is that correct?
For windows machine, the files in C:\Documents and
Settings\Administrator\Cookies
are all persistent cookie, it doesn't have session cookie?

Hi,
I have a login page where if the user wants his access codes to be saved are
set into a cookie. In the logout page, I want to delete those cookies. I
tried this and this is not working at all:
if (Request.Cookies != null
&& Request.Cookies != null)
{
Response.Cookies.Value = null;

I am trying to perform site login using values from a cookie, but for some
weird reason the cookie is being destroyed after the browser window is
closed. I checked the browser settings for the cookies, and there is nothing
there that terminates cookies uopn browser close. The following is a sample
of the code I am runinng:
To write the cookie:
This code runs if the user is not logged on the site and the cookie does not
exist.

Hey, I recently bought "The Javascript and DHTML Cookbook" by Danny
Goodman.
I'm at Chapter 1, part 1.9 "Reading and Writing Strings for Cookies"
and was just interested in a utility function that grabs a cookie
value:
function getCookieVal(offset) {
var endstr = document.cookie.indexOf (";", offset);
if (endstr == -1) {

Hi all, this is probably stupidly easy but I'm struggling.
I am trying to understand why cookies only appear to be readable when a
web page is retrieved by *typing the url into the browser's address
box* but NOT when the same page is accessed *via a link from another
page*. I probably don't fully understand the mechanics of an HTTP
request...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
