i'd like to create an application which would run in the background, &
there'd be an icon in the system tray (can use the notify icon).
But HOW can i make the form invisible.
What i'd like to do is, when the exe is run, ONLY the icon should appear in
the system tray & nothing else.
& if necessary the user can click on the icon & there'd be a menu to load
the necessary forms.
How can i do this.

I have a Windows application that previously had the company logo
"MyCompany.ico" added to the upper left-most corner. The company has since
issued a new version of "MyCompany.ico" that looks completely different.
I overwrote the old ico file with the new ico file and re-ran the program. I
still see the old logo at run-time.
I right-clicked the project-> Add Existing Item-> added the new ico file. I
set the build action to Embedded...

I've developed a windows service that monitors the database and shows
icon of a different color depending on the data. To be able to show an
icon I have to select the "Allow service to interact with desktop"
checkbox on the service, and when I do it manually, the icon shows just
fine.
But I want the users to double-click the installation file and not have

....and can't get it back. I think there may be a bug in Vista. Twice now,
when drawing the cursor across an Icon in the "Computer" window, the cursor
has picked up the Icon and when it slid under the frame of the window, the
file and/or device disappeared from the computer. It did not go into the
trash. It just vanished. In the case of the file, I was able to restore it

I am trying to make a crafty tooltip, like the ones that popup when
you hover over the tray icons for Windows Vista, such as the "battery
meter", "network connectivity", "speaker volume" ...I am really
unhappy that NotifyIcon cannot be used with ToolTip.SetToolTip().

I am trying to programmatically create some icons for an Office 2007 add-in
(VB/C#) that will appear on the navigation Ribbon.
The particular icon is simply a colored round circle representing a colored
dot to indicate the category of an item. I have been able to draw basic

So if I write a dot net application that I deploy as a service, am I
"allowed" to have a systemtray icon? It works in XP, as long as the
service is installed with the interact with desktop setting is
maintained. But I have reason to believe that maybe the stricter
world of Vista will not allow the system trayicon to be managed from a
service, or maybe there's a trick to it.

I cannot restore the Internet Explorer applet icon which displayes Internet exploer properties on Windows Vista Basic Edition desktop.
I tried re-creating the icon by making registry fix such as NewDesktopPanel key etc but still could not acheive the result.
The icon displays on a new user's desktop.
Why should we struggle so much to BRING BACK A WINDOW'S EXISTING FEATURE?

I am using Windows Vista Ultimate (x86).
I accidently deleted my Desktop Recycle Bin.
I restored it (Control Panel/Personalise/Change Desktop Icons).
I clicked on the Recycle Bin (Full) icon and then clicked on Default.
I repeated this operation on Recycle Bin (Empty)
