any property that lets me change the browser address?

I have a site already constructed with tons of links targeting physical files, I want when the user types http://www.mypage.com/index.php?a=2&b=3 to load the actual page but in the browsers address bar to appear only http://www.mypage.com. I want this to be happening always regardless of what follows the domain name (not specificaly for a and b variables) Is there a javascript property I can put to my index page (all other pages are included in the index based on a spesific GET variable)
P.S. Looked .htaccess but for as far as I saw it's only taking a given pattern and if matched calling a specific page so it dont work in my case (at least that's what I think)

a quick and dirty solution would be using frames.

Dormilich ← doesn't like frames at all

Nah one of the problems here is that I have already constructed the site so I wish for the silution to be as painless as possible (plus I do not like frames either)

This won't be possible with JavaScript. You could use mod_rewrite if using Apache.

The thing is i do not want to map virtual URLs to physical files I simply want to hide them from the URL and simply show only www.mysite.com always in the address bar (while ofcourse loading the actual file) note also that the .htaccess examples I saw maps nonexisting urls to physical files but I want to do and the reverse (since I have tons of links targeting actual files) when the user types an actual link that page to load but in the address bar to show only the www.mysite.com
Any ideas?

The only thing I can think of is to redirect when the page loads to the home page, but taking the parameters to load the correct page. You could do that with JavaScript, but PHP would be more reliable.

Because of my experience posting various places over the last couple of weeks: I'm expecting to be greated with hostility for asking about concepts instead of "practical" things, since that has been my experience for years and decades. Maybe I'm projecting hostility. I don't know. How can I ask about theory and concepts without offending...

Hi! 1. I am using asp.net 2.0 for my application and was wondering is there a way we can hide address bar, menu bar, Links and Standard Buttons of the browser without opening a new window. i.e. nothing should be displayed on the browser except the application content. 2. Actually, we have accomplished this by opening a new window and...

Are there any reasons why I shouldn't or couldn't use a structure as a property in a class? Specifically since structures are value types and objects are reference types? I have a Shipping object that has 4 different types of addresses. Initially, I created 4 instances of an Address object, but seem inefficient to me since the Address...

I've been able to get the <qelement and the CSS quotes property to work well together in English, but not in Russian or mixed Russian and English. I probably don't have a firm enough grasp of the CSS syntax possibilities. This is exacerbated by the fact that I code in XHTML 1.1, where the <langproperty is not allowed (the xml:lang property is...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
