Now that we have this Ajax stuff, users have the potential to not leave
a page for a long time. My knowledge of browser memory handling is
limited, but I spoke with a Microsoft engineer who told me that IE has
a very naive mark and sweep GC algorithm, which gets invoked when a
page gets reloaded.

Hi,
Reading the Yahoo! UI AJAX library, there is a unique workaround for an
apparent IE 6 memory leak with binding a function to
onreadystatechange. Instead of binding a function to
onreadystatechange, the library polls the readystate of the request
object until it becomes 4. Then it calls the handler function. This
polling seems like a lot of work but maybe is a good approach? If bad
then what is better? Another person asked about this...

I have asked this on the official asp.net forums but no luck so
thought I'd try here
Assume you have a page with a filter control and a grid view and many
other controls on it. When the filter changes you want the gridview to
change but nothing else. In particular all you would like to happen is
for an ajax call to occur and a new grid view to be returned.

I just downloaded and installed the latest microsoft AJAX extension for
..NET and the CTP December package.

Greetings! I was researching AJAX to provide a solution to displaying status
messages while a long process executed. I found several examples online and
was able to use their code to get a quick application working. However, when
attempting to implement the solution, the AJAX calls weren't updating the
screen like the examples were and seemed not to fire until after the long

On my site I have a google adsence placed in a list. After the first 10
records it shows a adsence commecial.
But.. on my search page I use Ajax to get the search result while you type
