Faded Background on Full Page Area

Can anyone recommend a cross browser solution to cover full web page
(100% in height and width) with faded background (apparently DIV
element)?

Please elaborate. For example, what do you consider a "faded background"
(I found four translations for "faded" in my dictionary, and only two coming
remotely close to making any sense)?

Reads more like a CSS problem (on-topic in
comp.infosystem s.www.authoring.stylesheets). Why do you think this
could/should be resolved with client-side scripting?

Faded background in my understanding would be something very close to
http://www.huddletogether.com/projects/lightbox/ where transparent
black layer covers screen area. I used pageYOffset for FF and
scrollTop for IE to calculate top position of my 100% wide and tall
div. I do not enjoy this idea and I thought there might be better
solutions which I haven't heard of.

Hello! I am working on revising my Web site template. The main part of the page is divided into two columns (each a <div>)--a side bar on the left and the main content area on the right. Both <div>s have a different background color. The side bar <div> extends partly down the page while the main content area <div> goes almost all the way down. The problem I am having is in getting the side bar's background to line up with the main...

Here are two cases regarding inline-level elements' line-height, padding and background, which I doesn't understand: <div style="background: black; color: white; line-height: 1.5"> <span>Abc</span> <span style="background: white; color: black; line-height: 3">Abc</span> <span>Abc</span> </div>

Hi, I am attempting to create a CSS-driven website, in that I want to be able to control the display/content from the CSS file. I do not want to use tables. On a page, I have a background image (that contains smaller images) and I would like to assign the smaller images as hyperlinks. What is the best way to do this? I know I can use an imagemap, but is

there is some property that i think is mostly used for images used as backrounds that fades them, so you can get the idea of the image but not have it obscuring the text thats on it, its not trasparency i have been going nuts trying to find it, i'm sure i've seen it described somewhere on the w3c site but embarrassed to say can't find it again hopefully somebody knows this or maybe i'm going crazy

I hope I can explain this well enough to understand. I have a master page that is used by almost all of the pages in my site. On the master page is a table. In one of the cells in this table, I have set the background to display an image that is located in a directory called "images" which is just off the root directory. Here's the problem: Any page that is not located in the root directory (where the master page is located) cannot...

I'm wondering if there is a work-around for the following problem that I've encountered. FireFox is behaving like I expect, IE7 is misbehaving. The main stylesheet has the declaration: html, body { margin: 0 5%; padding: 0; background-color: #FFFFFF; }

If in my CSS I set the "background-color" property on the "body" element, it only covers the background of the elements defined in the body, up to the current width and height of the page. However, if the current component set has a resulting small height, this leaves most of the page with the original background color (white). However, if I set the property on the "html" element instead, it does color the entire visible page, beyond the...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
