Fin Position & Height of Last DIV in doc using Absolute Positioning

7 New Member
I have an html page in which all positioning is absolute.

I want to place the page contents in a div which uses the top:??px plus the height:??px contained in the div with the greatest top:??px to set the height of the contents div.

If I retrieve all divs using document.getEle mentByTagName, how would I sort and obtain the values I am looking for?

Thanks for any advice.

It's document.getEle mentsByTagName(). Get the top value with divs[i].style.top and the height with divs[i].style.height. You'll need to use parseInt to get the integer value. Keep a max variable and set it when a top value is higher than the current max.

I've been working on a pop-up menu, one of those where you mouse over a button and a submenu pops up. Because the client wanted the menu centered, I gave the starting point of the submenu an absolute position, then used relative position to place the menu where I want it beneath the buttons. The code for the menu is posted below (in Javascript). Although I can't get this to happen on my computer (using IE5.0, 5.5, and Netscape 7.0), the...

Hello Reading the follwing document: http://www.w3.org/TR/WD-positioning-970131#In-flow it seems very clear that position:relative should be relative to the parent element. So in the following test case element1 and element2 should be placed side by side inside a centered white container element: http://www.markusernst.ch/test.htm

Hello experts, I would be very grateful if you would have a look at the following URL: http://www.omeganet.de/test.html The html file and the associated style have been validated successfully by the online validators of w3.org.

Hi, friends, This drove me nuts: I had two web user controls: header.ascx and copyright.ascx. I planed to put them on each .aspx pages: Header on the top, and Copyright at the bottom. However, I could NOT place them in the correct positions of the .aspx pages. The header.ascx, copyright.ascx, and contents of .aspx kept OVERLAP each other. For example, in the following .aspx, the two web user controls

Hi to All, I am new to html authoring, so sorry if my terminology is not correct or exact. I would like to position a footer div to the bottom of the browser window. As I research in the web shows this could be done a containing element with "min-height: 100%;" and an absolute positioned element (div) inside, aligned to bottom ("position: absolute; bottom:0px")

Hello: I've finally made the effort to ween myself from overly using tables and use CSS for my positioning. However, I am having a problem with my navigational menu properly aligning in Firefox, despite the fact that I have gotten a green light from W3. link to problem page: I didn't see a feature to attach my css code so I pasted sections of the code that dealt with layout and navigation below. Thanking you in advance,

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
