I am looking to make a small web app that will return the status of a
website from the client browser. I tried this with AJAX and it worked
great locally, but did not work for remote users accessing the page, I
ran into the security problem with making a cross domain request.
I have been reading that with JSON a cross domain request can be
accomplished, but have not been able to find any examples on how to use
it or how to get the return...

While I've done javascript work for as long as I can remember (since
Netscape first released it), I've only ever used it for trivial
things, change a color here, validate a text element there, blah blah
blah. With Ajax (actually, the uncovering of the XmlHTTPRequest
object) I absolutely see the benefit of moving more of the UI work to
the client, rather than doing page refreshes.
I know there are a bunch of libraries out there...

Hello,
Im trying to access elements in my XML file using the JavaScript DOM
but i'm not sure how. I use AJAX to access the XML and then use the
responseXML property to access the XML file data.
I want to extract all the tracks from a specific CD.
Right now, im using an array to stock all the data but its just a
question of time before everything blows up because of the size of the
array. Thats why im want to use an XML file (later i will...

I've now been looking for a week for a simple but useful sample on how
to get a list of entries (persons) via an XMLHttpRequest using Json/PHP
on the server. So far I've found about a thousend different tutorials
and code samples but not a single one, where the server returns an array
of entries. Very few samples use Json at all and almost none show the
server code. So does anybody know a sample which
- uses just a small javascript...

I've been pretty infatuated with JSON for some time now since
"discovering" it a while back. (It's been there all along in
JavaScript, but it was just never "noticed" or used by most until
recently -- or maybe I should just speak for myself.)
The fact that JSON is more elegant goes without saying, yet I can't
seem to find a way to use JSON the way I *really* want to use it: to
create objects that can be instantated into multiple...

Hi Guys
I dont really know how to do this: if there are a page of others,
some data are embedded inside the data array like this:
<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
<!--
var jsData = new Array();
jsData = {bowl:"I", year:1967, winner:"Packers", winScore:35,
loser:"Chiefs", losScore:10};
jsData = {bowl:"II", year:1968, winner:"Packers", winScore:33,

I am using PHP with the JSON extension function json_decode.
I have a JSON with a member named "1" (ie) { "1":"somedata" }
Trying to access this via the -operator doesn't work, nor does
.
Putting the JSON into a foreach loop DOES access the member:
foreach($json as $key=>$value) {

Not really. It shows that a particularly naïve implementation
of a conversion from XML to JSON doesn't work well.
What if the conversion of

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
