Hi all. I'm trying to dynamically build menus and objects after my page
loads. Data is stored in an XML file and is parsed at runtime into
Javascript objects. At the moment, I'm working on creating menu items
from these objects. The parsing works fine (using Sarissa), and Firefox
builds the menu no problem. IE, however, does not. The functionality of
the menu will be a single onclick event. It seems that Firefox allows
me to set the...

Is there a general mechanism to duplicate, or provide for the
duplication of, objects? As an example, suppose I need to duplicate
an array. I can accomplish this with array.slice( 0 ), but that's not
going to cut in general. I could also add a copy method to the Array
prototype, like so:
Array.prototype.copy=function() {
var newArray=;
for( var idx=0; idx < this.length; idx++ ) {
newArray.push( this );

is there any way to automatically convert .net objects to javascripts
objects? for example to send the bussiness logic to the browser and this way
reduce the postbacks to the server? I think it would be nice to have the
ability in Visual Studio to switch a class or object between server-side and
client-side...something to think about?

Hi. I'm pretty experienced with Javscript but totally new to JSON and
have a question...
Is it possible to use JSON to "populate" objects that are already
defined? For instance, I have two "classes":
function class1() {
this.class2_array;
}

I have a rather old script that uses XMLHttpRequest to retrieve some
html and pops it into a div using innerHTML. I'd like to switch over to
using append child since not only is it standardized, but it'll save me
bandwidth in the long run.
The html returned looks something like:
----
<div style="position:absolute; z-index:50; width:256px; height:256px;
top:0px; left:0px">'.$tilesOverlay.'</div>
<div style="position:absolute;...

I've been pretty infatuated with JSON for some time now since
"discovering" it a while back. (It's been there all along in
JavaScript, but it was just never "noticed" or used by most until
recently -- or maybe I should just speak for myself.)
The fact that JSON is more elegant goes without saying, yet I can't
seem to find a way to use JSON the way I *really* want to use it: to
create objects that can be instantated into multiple...

Hi,
I got a question regarding JSON as datasource- I understand that eval
on a JSON String creates the appropriate objects in JS.
But I would like to use JSON to supply data to already defined
prototpye objects. I try to give an example. I e.g. got:
address.prototype =
{
firstname: null;

I've just added JSON handling to my work and the code from json.org to
create/parse the strings. The "compressed" version of the code starts:
if(!Object.prototype.toJSONString){Array...
This is working fine expect it appears to be messing with my objects. I
regularly iterate through my objects but now there's a new property
(toJSONString) that's buggering things up.
Admitedly I don't understand the JSON code but can I just delete the

I'd like to perform multiple XMLHTTP requests but one after the other,
ie. do next when previous one comes back ok.
Identifier to determine when to start the next one is a global
variable whose value is reset to none ("") with XMLHTTP handler
function. For example:
var someGlobal = "";
for(var i=0; i<10; i++){
if(someGlobal ==""){
someGlobal = i+"";

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
