Coming from an objectpascal background with strict type checking, I am
being driven nuts by PHP.
Stuff like using variables without declaring them, case sensitivity of
variables, getting true, false, 0, 1, "" mixed up, missing the $ before
variables etc is really slowing me down.
Is there a way to configure a run-time setting or interpreter setting
that will throw up warnings or declare an error if some of these issues
are present?

Hello,
Is there any other way to set variables than os.putenv().
Putenv doesn't actually put any values to actual system variables..
I'm trying to set CVSEDITOR variable automatically from script
so that user wouldn't have to set that him/herself. CVS can't use variable
set with putenv().

Here's what I need to do:
1) Write "Password:" to the console
- I know how to do that
2) Accept input that is not written back to the console
- I know how to do that (Term::ReadKey)
3) Set the PASSWD variable so that when the script exits, my env
variables now include one called PASSWD that contains the text I typed
at the "Password:" prompt.

I need to set tabs on java generated pages. Pages have four sections:
header, sidebar, body, and footer. The sidebar and body change dynamically.
The tab key must go to anchors, fields, and buttons doing all in the header
first, all in the sidebar second, etc. A base page contains includes for all
the pieces and has the body tag.
I am trying to use code pasted below. Help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi,
I'm using PHP 4.4.4 on Apache 2 on Fedora Core 5. PHP was installed
using Apache's apxs and the php library was installed to
/usr/local/php. However, when I set my "error_reporting" setting to be
"E_ALL", notices are still not getting reported. The perms on my file
are 664, with owner root and group root. The php.ini file is located
at /usr/local/lib/php/php.ini. Any ideas why the setting does not seem
to be having an effect? ...

I have an object which represents an "item" in a CMS "component" where
an "item" in the most basic form just a field, and a "component" is
effectively a table.
"item" objects can be created and then added to "component" objects to
build up the component definition.

I want to read the envorinment setting "path" and then on certain
conditions change this setting.
ex path : "%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%
\System32\Wbem;C:\Program Files\Symantec\pcAnywhere\;"

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
