creating dynamic select field

I heard that ajax is very powerful for creating dynamic web pages. Is there any way to create a dynamic select field. Like I have two select fields and take data from the database. When choosing a particular item in first select field then its sub categories should be displayed on the second select field. Is it possible to do this without reloading the page?

hi ...

of course ... you may have a look at some ajax tutorials that are mentioned in the offsite links at top of the js-forum, at our js-articels ajax-section and at least for example the following 2 threads:

Dynamic drop down menu?
How can I assign value to a hidden field from a select?

kind regards

Yes it is possible, but you want the JavaScript Forums. Once there post the code you are having trouble with and they will assist you.

thank you

very possible and very easy, In this javascript forum there is a stickied thread called Offsite Links, and in there theres a Category called Ajax I believe you can get most of what you need out of those tutorial and informational links.
If you need more help after you attempt to make an ajax query yourself post back with the problems you are having or if you don't understand something post back and we'll try to explain it.

Hello, I have a user request to build a form in an Access database where the user can check off specific fields to pull in a query. For example, let's say I have 10 fields in a table. The user wants to be able to check off anywhere between 1 and all 10 fields in a form and have it return a select query with just the fields that were checked off. There are multiple users, so not all users will be checking off the same fields. Some...

I am getting 'options' is null or not an object using when using a dynamic dataset with a dropdown list in an html form. I am filling-in a text field and filtering the values in the drop-down. This functionality works with a fixed set of values in the drop-down (i.e. <option value tags). Any insight would be greatly appreciated. <INPUT TYPE="text" NAME="input1" VALUE=""...

hi all, I have this seemingly simple problem. I have lost a lot of time on it though. When a user selects a value from a dropdownlist (static control) a dynamic control is generated. I have to create the dynamic controls in the OnInit stage of the lifecycle. Since data from static controls is not yet available in the OnInit stage I can't know what dynamic control I have to create.

I have a dynamic range that I would like to use as a linked table into Access. The problem is that Access doesn't seem to want to to recognize the dynamic range when you click on "show named ranges" in the Link Spreadsheet wizard. The reason I want to use a dynamic range is because when the data in my excel spreadsheet changes the linked table will import blank rows that were previously used from the bottom of the spreadsheet. I can't...

Greetings, I have a nagging problem with client-side dynamic dependent list boxes that perhaps someone can help me troubleshoot. I have a form with a series of dynamic dependent list boxes. Making a selection from list/box A (Qtr) selects a fiscal quarter, which then refreshes the values in list/box B (Mth), which shows the 3 months in that fiscal quarter, which then refreshes the values in list/box C (MthDate), which returns the date...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
