I am new to .NET and trying to convert some existing code to .NET. The
application that is giving be problems is one that receives status messages
from a device via WM_COPYDATA messages and logs, and/or acts upon them.
In MFC this was easy, but I can't seem to figure out how to set up the
handler in .NET. It should be simple but I am obviously missing something.
Can anyone tell me how to set up a function to receive the messages. ...

I'm trying to send and receive XmlDocument objects using the
System.Messaging.dll functions. The code I've written follows, as best I
can tell, the methodology used in the sample code for the
XmlMessageFormatter class. But it isn't working -- specifically, receiving
isn't working. What am I doing wrong here?
I begin by creating a MessageQueue object and setting up its
XmlMessageFormatter to handle XmlDocument objects:
System.Type...

Hi All.
I have this weird problem that on my devlepment machine (Windows XP) I
don't receive MultiCast messages that I send from my machine. This
means that my two processes can't communicate using MultiCast if they
both run on the same machine.
I have created a small MultiCast "server" which is listening for
messages on 224.100.0.1:8932 and then a small MultiCast "client" that
sends out messages to this same address and port. The two...

Hi all, about 2 years ago I wrote a small utility that was used to send and
receive SMS messages via a mobile phone (3rd party COM object as used as
interface). I now have to write another program that does pretty much the
same thing.
My old program simply sent and received SMS messages via a Nokia phone
connected to the computer running the utility.
I now have to write the same type program and instead of using a cellphone
connected...

I have 2 projects - 1 Winform project that sends Udp messages using the
UdpClient class when a button is clicked, and a Console application that
listens for these Udp messages.
If I try to use the UdpClient class to receive, it never works. The messages
are never received (no exceptions). If I use a normal socket configured to
listen for Udp messages, it works perfectly.
Below is my sample code. It is only test code - I know the...

Hi all,
I am currently working on a small application that sends messages from a
client to a server and receives messages in return. Basically the
functionality is made with sockets which is working just fine except of one
little thing. whenever the client tries to receive a message the server has
sent it goes into a hang. unfortunately without an error or exception at
all.
the communication itself (sending message from client to...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
