Openning a file in Javascript

Hello. Im using a Console (Operator Panel) that has a built in web server. Im triyng to make a page that opens a file in the console server.
Im using this code:
var datafile = "DEFAULT.SK V";
var line, line2, line3;

objXml.open("GE T", datafile, true);
objXml.onreadys tatechange=func tion()
{
if (objXml.readySt ate==4)
{
display(objXml. responseText);
line = objXml.response Text;
line2 = line.split( " " );
line3 = line.split( ";" );
Display2(line3[7].substring( 0, line3[7].length));
}
}
The file to open is DEFAULT.SKV.
This code works fine if the file is inside the web server folder, but i want to open a file that is outside the web server folder and i don't know the phisichal path. I've tryied lots of paths like: ..\folder\defau lt, and so on.
