Hi,
I am trying to put together the last major pieces of my project's
puzzle. This is more website/client-side architecture than
JavaScript syntax but I hope this is a good place to ask. I'm a little
stumped with which direction to take and advice would be greatly
appreciated. I think this is a generally interesting problem but I
haven't seen a post this long here before :S

Hello NG,
I've been doing some AJAX for a few weeks now. The basics worked fine so
far, but now I've got the following problem which I can't solve:
With AJAX you typically update/replace only parts of your page. But in
my application there are situation when I first notice on the server --
so AFTER sending an AJAX request -- that I have to update the complete
page instead of only some parts. And what do I do now???

XMLHttpRequest and AJAX for PHP programmers
James Kassemi
Introduction:
Although the concept isn't entirely new, XMLHttpRequest technology is
implemented on more sites now than ever. Compatibility is no longer an
issue (IE, Mozilla and Opera all support it), and the benefits to
using it are amazing. There are too many PHP programmers avoiding any

Here's my issue: I have an instant messenger type feature for my site, its
basically an ajax IM feature. I run with a mysql backend on the site, i have
a div on my main page that runs a javascript timer to load the php page via
ajax every 15 seconds which checks the "pinguser" table to see if the user
has any chat requests, then echoes them to a div on the page. what i REALLY
want to do is have the ajax page see if there is a ping for the...

I'm creating a page in which a certain "content" part of the page is refreshed using ajax.
I do this by using a div#content, and it's child div#container.
the code:
...
// clean container first
var container = document.getElementById("container")
container.parentNode.removeChild(container);

Hi, apologies in advance is this may be a nonsensical ramble, but I'm hoping someone can give me some advice on how to solve the following problem:
I'm developing a site where the main content is loaded dynamically (and using a fade effect) into a placeholder div using AJAX. This is all working fine, however the tricky part for me is making the site accessible by using unobtrusive javascript.
What I want to do for users with javascript...

Hi,
I started writing this blog some time back and it would be
great if I could get an audience here and even better if we could have
a conversation about developments possible on the techniques I have
discussed in my blog.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
