I have a textarea and some buttons. The buttons apply functions to
the text the user selects, i.e. the good old "wrap with a tag"
thing we all have seen in 100 different editors.
Trouble is, when I click the button, the selected text gets
unselected. Select some text in the textbox and click -anywhere-
and the text unselects.
I want that text to stay selected!

This weekend I wanted to learn AJAX, so I set up a little toy page
where I could experiment. The idea of this page is that you click in
one of the boxes to get some controls, at which point you can add text,
images, or HTML to the box. This seems to work fine in FireFox, but not

Hi all,
Well having found this group to be a fountain of knowledge I have another
question. And hey, no worries if you don't know or don't want to answer,
please ignore this.
Is there a way to change the timeout of a tooltip AKA alt text over a
picture? Normally the text appears for about 5 seconds then vanishes, but
I'd like it to stay indefinitely on a specific picture. (It's a photo with
a description of the photo).

I know I sound like a one-note Johnny on this but I'm still looking for a
solution. I need to display characters coming in from a serial port or a
socket. I also need to be able to type characters into the display myself -
but that's not the main issue at this time. I've tried a scrolling multiline

I want to open a text file and format it into a specific line and then apply
color to a specific location of the text and then display it in a RichTextBox
after all of this is done.
I can do all of the above after the file is loaded into the RichTextBox, and
I am trying to speed the process up by doing it in a temp file.

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
