Radio button values

1 New Member
I'm trying to set up a script that checks to see how many radio buttons are set to Yes and how many are set to No.

I'm using PHP to generate all the radio buttons and name them, and as it goes through, it gives each one a numeric ID based on the order, and a name which is equal to what the option is for. At the end of the field, I have the submit button call the JavaScript function, and provide it with the maximum number of selected options and the total number of options displayed(as this will change based on who is logged in and setting things up).

Here is my code:

function keywordcheck(re maining, total){
count = 0
for(i = 1; i < total; ++i){
if (document.getEl ementById(i).ge tAttribute('che cked') == 'checked'){
count++
} //if
} //for

if (count > remaining){
alert("You have selected too many keywords.\n You have chosen " + count + " keywords.\n Please Choose only " + remaining + " keywords")
return false
} else {
return true
}
}

I know the flaw is in the if statement. The radio button has 2 objects with the same ID, and the first one always has a value of Yes and the second, ignored one is marked as No. So...as it scans through, every time it checks the first ID it gets the value of Yes.

I'm brand new to JavaScript, so I know this is a really stupid question, but I'm not new to coding. I have a good amount of experience with PHP and C++, so I'm not new to the logic.

Any suggestions?

I'm using PHP to generate all the radio buttons and name them, and as it goes through, it gives each one a numeric ID based on the order,

if (document.getEl ementById(i).ge tAttribute('che cked') == 'checked')
IDs cannot start with a digit, and all IDs in a document must be unique.
The checked property of a radio button is boolean (true or false only) and can and should be read directly rather than via getAttribute.

I have a form used to submit data (no surprises there!). I'd like to be able to populate the same form with previously submitted data. The data lives in a database once submitted and using ASP I can populate text boxes/textareas using this data no problem. What about radio buttons? If I have 2 of them named the same rb1 and rb1 with values of yes/no respectively.

If multiple buttons are clicked their information will available on the same document. I'm not...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
