ajax blind effect

1 New Member
Hey guys,
I just found this community and its great! But im using script.aculo.us and prototype and on a site i am looking to use for my portfolio, is there anyway i could use the blind-down effect with information from a remote file? Meaning if i click on a link, it would blind-down information from lets say (e.g. contact.htm)?

Thanks in advance!

I understand this is a asp.net group, but thought I would post this here for comments. I admit I have used this post in another group, but it has less traffic. Here's to hoping I'm just blind to the obvious: I have been reading a lot about AJAX. I want to use it and will. But I keep reading about how it doesn't make a roundtrip to the server, no postback, etc. But isn't the truth that *something* makes a trip to the server? It may...

Hi, Ajax question: Can I retrieve an HTML page and use the DOM to grab stuff from the requested page in a similar fashion to an XML page requested in the same manner? Details: I'm requesting a web page by: myRequest.open("GET", "http://www.asite.com/page.html", true);

I'm using a PHP script to raw output jpeg files in thumbnail generation. This works fine as completely server-side - I call it through an <img> tag, like <img src='picture.php?width=100&path=test.jpg'> but when I do this through an ajax call it outputs the raw binary data. In a sort of blind attempt to fix the problem, I put: xmlhttp.setRequestHeader("Content-type", "image/jpeg"); in my ajax script to see if that would fix the problem....

Hi I am trying to implement the Microsoft Ajax.NET extensions to perform a lookup on a key press of a text box. What this will do is once a user enters a letter into the textbox, this will filter a list from a database and populate some filtered options for the user to choose in a seperate listbox. Any subsequent key presses will further filter this result set.

Hi, I have an image reference (IMG) in my page that changes depending on the value of a database field. Clicking the image triggers an Ajax call to change the database field (toggles the field value between 1 and 0). I've made it work so that the image source changes to reflect the new value once the Ajax call is complete. In other words, the image reflects the value of the database field in real-time. Kind of like a real-time checkbox. This...

I would like to convert a form that currently uses the traditional CGI sequence (i.e. the action associated with the form sends a POST request to a server-side CGI script) to one that uses AJAX to send a JSON-encoded request to a remote web service. The stumbling block I'm running into is that one of the inputs in the form is a file upload element, and I can't figure out how to include the data from the specified file in the JSON...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
