is this idea better suited for Javascript or Flash?

I have a product that contains several components. I want the user to come
to my site and "build a product" out of the available components.

I envision something like this:
- user sees a basic product on the page
- clicks on a component to view options for that component
- can change components, mix and match by clicking on each component and
selecting from the options available to arrive at a final product they want.
- ideally, then they would click a button to email their contact info to us
for us to build it or contact them.

Is this better built in flash or javascript?

I ask because I might be able to squeal it out in javascript but would
outsource it in flash.

Thanks for your insight and replies.

What you wish to do sounds much like an elaborate shopping cart. You
offer a basic product that is first selected. Then you select from a
list or lists, often dropdown, for options. In some cases you may want
to display the basic product with option after the option is selected.
This sounds much like an eCommerce type of program that often is
installed on the server. Some hosts that cater to small business have
eCommerce programs and secure pages installed on the servers on which
they rent space. Sometimes there is an extra charge for using these
features. If such a one-size-fits-all program is not right for you, you
might well need to pay someone to write you a custom program or modify
an existing one - unless you have done quite a bit with server side
code before. It is difficult to give a good answer unless minute
details are provided, since the devil is in the details for how simple
or complex such a program may be.

Hi, I've been asking questions about library design over the last week and would like to get feedback on my overall idea for a JavaScript GUI library. I need a nice GUI library so there is a good chance I will write this as I need new widgets. I haven't found anything like this and I'm surprised/disapointed this doesn't already exist. My library prototype works nicely. I think parts of these ideas are not commonly used for JavaScript...

Hey everyone, i've been playing around with trying to get some scripts to work with detecting whether flash player is installed on your computer or not. I found a flash detection kit on the adobe site which had a client side detection method using javascript. Basically what im trying to get it to do is if flash player is installed, use the style property display="none" to hide my static content, and if flash is not installed hide the flash...

Also if I call it via localhost ..../x.swf it works. It just DOESN'T work when called from within PHP. Here is the code I am using. If any...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
