Detect when browser's cache is full

Hello,

Does anyone have any idea how Gmail does this? I have a web application
and people complain sometimes about some problems and most of the time
it turns out it's the browser's cache being full. The application
doesn't do anything really fancy and all it does is to set a cookie. I
did a search and couldn't find anything except people explainin how I
shouldn't do that. Even if the users have to add the server to the
trusted zone it's ok because it's an intranet application. btw. I'm
speaking of a MS shop, so everyone is using IE if that matters. Even if
Mozilla doesn't support that functionality or doesn't have any problems
with it - I don't care at this point because my users are using IE
99.9999% of the time and searching for bugs on places where they don't
exist is wasting my time.

Thanks in advance,
Nikolay

How GMail does what?

Then have them set IE to empty the cache when it gets closed.

Hi Randy,

I tried to log on to gmail from one of these machines and got a message
asking me to empty my browser cache. I tried it from my machine by
decreasing the amount of disk space to use for browser cache and got it
again. So obviously there IS A WAY to detect when the cache is full and
automatically ask the user to do that instead of calling me about the
problem.

I know it isn't my issue however it's increasing the frustration and my
phone keeps ringing...

Regards,
Nikolay

Is there a way to detect a browser cache is full using javascript or HTML thorugh a web page and inform the user to clear the cache to improve performance of the website. It looks like google's gmail use to detect and warn "Gmail says my browser's cache is full" http://gmail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=14106 then there should be a way to do it if google can do it. Any thoughts ?

There are a few things that I store in the session cache hashtable for our application. The user gets a session when they log into the application. They can open more than one browser window using the same session by doing things like: If they right click on a link and select "Open in new window" from the context menu. If they hit CTRL-N to open a new browser.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
