I am using optparse for the commandline parsing for my programs. I
was wondering if it is possible to detect if an option or option-arg
has been specified on the commandline by the user or not. Please do
not suggest default value solutions.

Hi all,
I have a question if it is possible to manipulate the settings of
character encoding in Ms Internet Explorer 5.0, 5.5 and 6.0. The
problem is that the default instalation of Ms IE seems to have hard
selected default encoding to "Western European (ISO)", which means
iso-8859-1. When browsing pages with some Central/Eastern European
characters these are converted to iso-8859-1 so displayed wrong.

I'm using SQL Server 2000 and on my page, I'm simply creating a
SQLDataReader and filling in Labels with the retrieved (single) record.
However, how can I prevent from getting errors when a field is null?

We have a little piece of JavaScript in one of our client's application
which automatically sets the input focus to the first control on the HTML
form.
This works very nicely, except for in one circumstance. If the user is
partway through entering data into the form, clicks a hyperlink to go to
another page, and then clicks the Back button to return to the edit page,

I wandering about the common proctice of some UA's producers to spoof
the UA string to pretend to be another browser (most often IE).
Shouldn't it be considered as a trademark violation of the relevant
name owner? If I make a whisky and call it "Jack Daniels", I most
probably will have some serious legal problems. "Mozilla" partially
appeared because NCSA stopped them from using "Mosaic" in the UA

We commonly use triggers to log changes to our main tables to
historical log tables.
In the trigger, we create a concatenated string of the old values by
casting them as follows:
CAST(O.MYDATE AS CHAR(30))
When directly updating date fields in the main table, the logged value
gets saved in the format YYYY-MM-DD as expected.
