DHTML dropdown menu, IE and visibility graphical glitch

I am trying to develop a drop down menu control. I know there are many other
scripts out there but I need to develop our own in house for licensing purposes.

Anyway, I am in the beginning stages and am already having problems. So far all
problems are in IE and not Firefox.

I have a simple menu with just one button and one level of items that pop up
below it. The list of items are A tags inside a DIV. The top level button is
also a DIV. The onmouseover event for the button DIV shows the menu, and a
document level onmouseover hides it.

1) When moving in and out of the button, I set the visibility of the DIV to
hidden or visible. When I show the item list, and the cursor is hovering over
the list, there is a graphical glitch surrounding the cursor, as if it shows the
bounding box of the cursor graphic.

2) When moving in and out of the button, I see the cursor 'catch' and drag for a
split second as the handler fires.

The strange thing is that neither of these exist in FF, and I do not see either
of these problems with some other DHTML menu scripts in IE. I also looked at
their source code and they use visibility as well (some use display:none but I
also tried that and got the same result) so I don't understand what the problem
is.

That is technically absolutely impossible: unless your're using a badly
prepared custom .cur file for your cursor. If not then it is some other
other problem not related with cursor graphics. Any link/code to look
at?

I don't need to do anything complicated. All I want to do is to have a div slide down from underneath a button I have. When i search online, I find a zillion slide down menu scripts, but they don't work for just sliding a div. Can someone please point me in the right direction? Thanks.

I have developed a generic list-based css menu. It works both in IE7 and Firefox, and with the help of Peter Nederlof's csshover.htc, with older IE versions. I have included a simplified version below. The list goes something like this: <ul class="menu"> <li>Menu 1 <ul> <li>Item 1</li>

Hi all :) I have created a horizontal navbar using Xara Menumaker. The Menu items have several dropdown menus. Its a javascript. When the mouse cursor is moved over any menu item, a dropdown list/menu appears. When the page is opened in the browser (as it appears by default), the dropdown menu positions are correctly displayed. But when I scroll the page and then move the mouse over any menu item of the navbar, the dropdown menu is not...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
