windows.externa l call

Hi

I have a VC++ ui which has an HTML Container. I have several Javascript
functions that need to call functions in VC++ UI. For this , the
existing code is using a call "windows.extern al". What I am unable to
link is the fact that upon calling windows.externa l , why a C++ UI is
called and not something else.
I want to understand that if I call windows.externa l from a js, how is
the function call resolved.

Thanks
Sandeep

window.external is nothing specific to JavaScript but rather a property
in the MS IE browser object model:
<http://msdn.microsoft. com/library/default.asp?url =/workshop/author/dhtml/reference/objects/external.asp>
The architecture behind that is explained here:
<http://msdn.microsoft. com/library/default.asp?url =/workshop/browser/overview/overview.asp>

Thanks Martin, It does clear a lot of things. My premise of thinking
..external as a javascript specific thing was the problem.

I am working a new application...well actually a series of applications for my company. They want internal users to be able to go to a site and everything regarding security is transparent, however we will have brokers and customers that also need to connect and will require a username and password. In this case we were going to store their credentials in a SQL database. Internal users will have the ability to access the same resources...

I am trying to print to the printer. I am using a VC++ 6.0 compiler on Win 2K, but I get an error saying that stdprn is not defined. Why is that? Is it because of Windows, I am guessing? Do I have to use only the GDI32 functions for printing under Windows? Can I not use the stdprn under Windows to print from memory to the window?

Hi, This problem has been frustrating me for days and I hope you experts can help me out. I am trying to run a command, which I would normally run from the command line, from within my C# application. The command runs successfully from a Windows Form but fails if the application is recasted as a Windows service. The application is essentially a File Watcher that should run the process when a file is dropped into a specific directory. ...

Greetings! I'm a newbie in Visual C++ .NET (have programmed in Borland C++ and Builder for long) and I am trying to do a very simple thing, but I'm stuck. I created an (unmanaged) DLL project with a sample function, and tried to call it from a ".NET Forms" project. All I get are "Unresolved External" errors from the Linker!

Hi All, I'm hoping someone can help me out. I have a Windows Form dialog (call it dialog1) that responds correctly to a custom event generated by another class in my app. Inside this custom event handler that exists inside the Windows Form object I need to load/display another Windows Form dialog, call it dialog2. So, I dutifully instantiate Dialog2 and call it's ShowDialog() method. Dialog2 happens to have a button on it that performs a...

Hello there, I am not asking how to impersonate a process within C# windows application. I already know that, in C# v2.0, you can easily achieve it using ProcessStartInfo. You can run a process or call external program as of different user. The problem of that design is that the mother application is still running as current user. I know that less privilege is more secure.

Hi, I call an external windows program (.exe) from a python script. Something like os.system('test.exe'). I want to set a timeout for the external windows program to return. If no results are produced by the external windows program (test.ext) within this timeout limit, I want to terminate the external windows program and continue with the python script.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
