Hi All,
What is the best way to use a cookie to remember a logged in user? Would
you store the username and password in two separate cookies? Should the
password be plain text? Hashed? Not there at all?
Any feedback would be helpful. Thanks!

Hi all,
We have about 10 different domains that are linked very closely and we
want to identify and track every single user that surfs our websites.
Later we want to analyse user paths and find out the search robots with
the referring search words.
What are the possibilities?
Cookies are not accepted by 40 % of our users and in addition to that
for each domain a different cookie is created what makes it really

Some time ago I set up an ASP application that used a login page which
checked a username and password against a database to determine a users
authorization to access certain pages on the site. This was done by setting
a session variable within the application if the user was authorized and
using code one each page for which protection was required to check for the
status of the session variable.
Now I am aware of the various techniques...

I'm currently using ASP.NET with VS2003 and SQL Server 2003. The ASP.NET app
i have made is running on IIS v6 and consists of a number of pages that allow
the user to read information from the database into classes, which are used
throughout the application. I have made class collections which, upon reading
from the DB, create an instance of the class and store the DB values in
there temporarily. My problem is that if user1 looks at...

Is there a way to get a user control to remember its state across pages? I
have a standard page layout I use with a header and footer as user controls.
Each page uses the same layout by means of copy paste (I hear this will
improve in ASP.Net 2 via master pages).
When I navigate from one page to the next the header and footer user
controls lose their state because they are effectively different instances
of the user control.
Is there...

This is a simplified version of my site.
There are Premium users who have access to the Premium directory.
Anyone else attempting to access it should be logged and then
redirected to the Premium.aspx - which explains the advantages of
being a Premium member and provides examples of content.
The default page for site visitors is "News/Default.aspx" but only
those with cookies set should go there otherwise visitors need to
login to...

i'm making Form authenticate page to let the user first logon before
using the application. However, like most security manner, the new
user is needed to first logon and forced to change password before
using the application.
My problem is
- When the user passed the authentication at logon page, we need to
redirect them to change thier password. but anyway the user can type
at the address bar to surf other pages on the application. What...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
