Could someone please suggest a very lightweight solution for protecting
directories on a web server? (membership system)
The job is basically this:
An administrator, after logging in via the web, should have the ability to
add/remove users who then could access their own password protected
directories only with their
browsers.
I know this could be easily done with Zope (I know that) and probably with

Hi!
I have a passwordprotected backend. I just realised that you can download a
cracking application that can crack a password with up to 18 signs. I have
tryed it and it works. My question is: is there any other software capable
to crack password with more than 18 signs, and how long can a password be in
Access.

Hi, My question is regarding password protecting 2 different folders
inside a single virtual directory using forms authentication method.
Easier if I illustrate things out...
- <authentication mode="Forms">
- Virtual Directory aka Top Level Root = /mysite
- Inside /mysite I have 2 sub-folders which I want to password protect
= /adminonly and /memberonly
- /adminonly is assigned to a single Admin user with a hard-coded pair
of username...

My setup: Mac OS 10.4.4; mysql 4.x ... everything was installed and
working fine for some time. Today, I added drupal to my system and had
to create a new database in mysql -- now I am having some problems. I
will outline the problem, what I have tried to do to fix it, and what I
think caused it. Hope you can help and I am sorry this is long.
The problem: I can't login to mysql anymore with the "root" username
(which is where I have all...

Hi all.
I have an app that needs to create a folder off the installation folder,
this is not a problem. But, I need to password protect this folder so only
the application can get access to the data stored there.
Of course a user can add a password to a foler, but how can I do this from
within my code, then how would I open a file within this password protected
folder?

I need to create a page with a password where I show photos. How do I stop
people from accessing the jpgs directly without going through the password
function.
I am using Windows XP and have a website which supports Mysql and php.
The end result should be a page where the user can type in a password and
access a few pages of thumbnails which can be clicked for enlargements.

Why Password protect an MDB when someone can google and get a hack?
Wondering if anyone else has thought of this and just said "oh well"...
I plan to password protect an MDB where I have some system/program variables
and data.
But looking in google, there are plenty of programs a user can download to
hack and crack that password.

Hi,
I developed an aplication for an autoservice Kiosk, witch will be
rented to customers. I want to lock a folder where sensitive files will
reside, something like a password. Encryption will not work because the
files are many and are big (25Mb aprox every file).
Any suggestion will be really apreciated,
Greetings,

so hopefully only one more question about this.....
so I have a webpage using frames. I have a header and a column down the
left, and the main body (all of which have different htmls but are brought
together under index.html.
From the header frame I have a list of different options which when clicked
change the body of the page, leaving the header page the same. I have
added a page which uses a 'gatekeeper' to loosely password protect...

I wrote a simple VB.NET application that imports and edits CSV files.
Now I’d like to “lock” the raw (pre-import) CSV files so these cannot be
opened separately. It is not high-sensitive data, I just don’t want folks to
peek in the files.
So time-consuming encryption is not necessary, just a simple
password-to-open that I can program in my application so it internally opens
the imported CSV file would be perfect, but I can’t...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development projectplanning, coding, testing, and deploymentwithout human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
